This lovely little townhouse is mere walking distance from lively downtown Austin, and doubles as a short-term rental. The homeowners requested an airy space that welcomes in all that big sky Texas light. Using a mix of local artisan pieces and e-retailers, we curated a living/dining space that embraces their love for both minimal modern design and rustic Austin charm. We started by acknowledging the existing hardwood floors - balancing those honey oak tones with a muted gray wall hue and brushed nickel fixtures. Their must-haves list included pet-and-renter friendly materials, washable rugs, hidden storage, and a dedicated cabinet for shoes. We also planned for flexible entertaining by selecting cozy arm chairs on casters at the dining table ends that can easily move about the room. The space is warm and welcoming (just like they are) and they plan to extend the vibe into the kitchen in the near future.
